Current Status:  August 4, 2014
The South Fork Complex is currently managed by Oregon Interagency Incident Management Team 4 (Brian J. Watts). The fire is 20 miles south of John Day. The fire experienced growth in all directions yesterday.
Fire personnel continue to work directly with affected landowners. Structure protection is in place where necessary.The fire is expected to continue to spread through grass fuels and cause group tree torching. Crews will continue to work on spot fires as they occur.

Fire Weather:

Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected which could bring small amounts of precipitation across the fire area through Tuesday. A thermal trough remains east of the fire with north to northeast winds in the region. Increased up-valley winds are expected Monday and Tuesday which could bring erratic fire behavior.
