Afternoon Update

South Fork Complex firefighters are experiencing another active fire day as expected.

The Murderers Creek Fire is approaching two cabins south of the Aldrich Lookout where structure protection is in place and fixed wing aircraft are dropping retardant.

Plumes of smoke are visible from Dayville this afternoon.  The plumes are caused by increased fire activity as well as a burnout operation along the South Fork of the John Day near the mouth of Murderers Creek.

Good progress is being made in completing containment on the Buck Fork Fire.
